Krunker.io is a new and extremely popular .io game in the style of multiplayer twitchy shooters, like Counterstrike. Although the movement and arcade aspects of the game sometimes feel more like Quake, this game feels as competitive and intense as some of the best FPS games out there right now. Based on the top-down 2D shooter vertix.io, Krunker comes from the same developers and take their classic classes into a 3D first-person shooter game.
What does it take to build such a popular game? It’s a pretty simple formula: a free online First Person Shooter with non-intensive graphics, lots of players, set classes (which allows mastery of one or many of the classes) and a booming online community. You can play Krunker.io on virtually any machine, though we don’t recommend loading it up on your mobile device unless you want to die repeatedly. However, we have heard of some players using the track-pad on a laptop and reach a surprisingly competitive level of play.
Much like other .io games, the aim of Krunker is simply to come at the top of the leaderboard, but Krunker does something differently. On the foundation of a .io games‘ basic premise, this game has developed into something far more complex. A community-driven selection of maps has been created in the Map Editor, there are already skins and a ‘Spin’ system, there have been several successful tournaments and dozens of fun game-modes dreamed up (infected, jump, low-gravity.) Updates are regular and the community is always informed, either through Reddit or Discord.
Krunker is still in Beta.
The game isn’t even close to being finished and it’s already one of the top free online gaming experiences we’ve had in a long time.
